yIqIm, Qa'Hom!
Welcome to Star Trek Klingon: Remastered, human petaQ! Pay attention to this training - it might ensure your survival.
What is Star Trek: Klingon?
'Star Trek: Klingon' was a single-player 1996 FMV game developed and published by Simon & Schuster (published by Virgin Interactive in some regions) for PC and Macintosh.
'Star Trek: Klingon - Remastered' is a fan project attempting to recreate the game in-browser, using AI to remaster the original game footage to HD quality from the original, highly-compressed CD-ROM footage.
How to play
You can control the game from this Klingon bridge interface. On desktop and tablet, you'll see the command buttons in a panel to the left. On mobile, you'll see them above.
Launches a new game.
Hides current game and shows this help screen (and vice-versa).
Pauses and unpauses gameplay.
Pauses gameplay and allows you to use Gowron's holodeck program to study cultural artefacts.
Allows you to jump between chapters.
Brings up the settings screen, allowing you to select options such as video quality and "cheat mode".
Hides most of the UI and launches your browser's fullscreen mode.
CHOICES: When you see the spinning d'k tahg
in the corner of the video window, it's time to make a choice. Click or tap objects within the video to make your choice. REMEMBER: sometimes, not acting is also a choice.
PLEASE NOTE: The game will run at 1080p video quality by default. If you're playing on mobile data, this will use roughly half a megabyte of your data allowance per second. It may also cause choppy playback on very slow connections. If you face either of these issues, it is highly recommended you visit SETTINGS first and lower the video quality.
ALSO NOTE: On puzzles that require you to input a sequence, you get one chance per try. If you hit the wrong buttons or get the sequence wrong, you've already failed until the next try.
FINAL NOTE: Yes, I know this one doesn't look as good as Borg Remastered. That's one of the reasons it's taken me so long to get around to this project. The reason comes down to source material. Star Trek: Borg received a DVD release. Klingon only came on CD-ROM. As a result, the Klingon footage is tiny (320x200!) and VERY heavily compressed by comparison. Still, I've done my best - and I couldn't stand another four years of people asking me to release this!

FAQ:
- IS THIS OFFICIAL? No, not it any way. This is a fan project. Please see the legal disclaimer at the bottom of the page for more details.
- IS THIS LEGAL? That's a grey area. It isn't possible to play the original Klingon game on any modern PC or Mac, and it isn't possible to purchase it anywhere any more. Technically, the game is "abandonware" (although that term holds no official legal status). That said, the legal rights holders of Star Trek would be well within their rights to issue me with a C&D order - and should that happen I will, of course, comply and take this site offline. My advice would be to enjoy this while you can, because it might go away.
- CAN I DOWNLOAD THIS GAME? I'm sorry, but I'm not going to make an offline version available. As noted above, I will comply if I'm issued with a C&D order. If I made the project easily downloadable and distributable, I would likely find myself the subject of far more serious legal action.
- DO YOU HAVE A PATREON, GOFUNDME, INDIEGOGO ETC.? It's very kind of you to ask, but no. I have no intention or desire to profit from this project in any way. It's just a personal passion project that I put together for my own entertainment, experimentation and experience.
- HOW DID YOU DO THIS?? That's a mix of complicated and simple. The short version is I have the original CD-ROM release so I stripped out all the footage, ran it through various remastering/editing processes (both traditional and AI) then programmed an entire logic tree/engine from scratch in JavaScript. It's complicated because of the technologies involved and simple because the required logic/programming was relatively basic. If you have any specific questions, feel free to use the contact methods listed below to reach out to me.
- CAN I CONTACT YOU? Certainly! You can find me on Discord (Username: ODVS) or Reddit (u/ODVS).
- DO YOU HAVE A DISCORD SERVER? No, but if enough people reach out using the above contact methods, I'll consider it.
